Iran has called for closer coordination among government agencies to combat goods and foreign currency smuggling, warning that illicit trade undermines domestic production, investment, and economic development in the country’s free trade and special economic zones.
Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones, in an interview with IRNA, outlined the status of the 17 free zones, stating: "Implementing development projects and connecting free zones to main transportation routes will pave the way for attracting investment and utilizing the economic capacities of various regions."
TEHRAN – Iran has completed all necessary preparations for the establishment of a joint free trade zone with Turkey in the border area of Khoy and is now awaiting reciprocal action from Ankara to operationalize the project, a senior Iranian official announced on Monday.
