According to Shada, the ministry’s news outlet, Madanizadeh visited Bazargan Customs on Thursday morning, shortly after inspecting the Sarisu border market. He toured the inbound and outbound freight facilities and passenger terminals at the border crossing.
During the visit, the minister spoke directly with Iranian and Turkish passengers and truck drivers to hear their concerns, difficulties, and requests firsthand.
In response to several requests, Madanizadeh said he would pursue measures to improve cross-border traffic and freight movement, including expanding the number of passenger and cargo entry and exit gates and lanes. He said the issues would be followed up through consultations with officials in the neighboring country and discussions at cabinet level.
The minister also inspected the X-ray scanning equipment installed at Bazargan Customs and was briefed on its operation. He subsequently received reports from officials of the Maku Free Trade-Industrial Zone and Bazargan Customs on seizures of smuggled goods and narcotics.
Bazargan Customs is one of Iran’s major land border crossings with Türkiye and plays an important role in bilateral trade, freight transit and passenger travel between the two countries.
