Rouhollah Solbi, Director General of Economic Affairs and Finance for Golestan, disclosed the figures at a press conference. While total foreign investment since the province began tracking the metric stands at $285 million, the annual trajectory reveals a pronounced upward shift: from $9.5 million in 2022 to $68.5 million in 2024, followed by $121 million in reinvestment during 2025. In the first quarter of the current Iranian year (starting March 2026), three additional projects worth $5.7 million have been secured from investors based in Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
The province has also distinguished itself in regulatory efficiency. Solbi noted that Golestan ranks fifth nationally in business climate improvement, with more than 327,000 registrants on the national licensing portal, which has facilitated the issuance of over 256,000 permits to date.
In response to persistent inflationary pressures and broader economic sanctions, the provincial administration has deployed targeted support to preserve employment. Solbi reported that 122 billion tomans (approximately $2.4 million at market exchange rates) were directed to 196 enterprises, averting layoffs for more than 6,300 workers across production units.
Fiscal performance in the province has outperformed national benchmarks. Tax revenues collected by Golestan's administration have reached 61% of government revenue targets, exceeding the national average of 57%. Meanwhile, the provincial insurance sector, led by Iran Insurance Company, has generated over 11,000 billion tomans in premium income.
The provincial compensation fund for bodily harm has also been active in disaster response, disbursing 9.3 billion tomans across 254 claims related to floods and lightning strikes so far in 2026.
