Iran Approves More Than 270 Foreign Investment Projects in Six Months

Iran approved more than 270 foreign investment projects and issued investment licenses for them during the first six months of the current Iranian year (starting on March 20, 2026), the head of the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI) said.

Mahdi Heidari, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and head of OIETAI, said the number of approved projects reflected sustained demand for investment in Iran despite the country's challenging economic conditions.

“More than 270 foreign investment projects have been approved and investment licenses issued during the first six months of the current year,” SHADA cites, as Heidari said.

Heidari described the figure as significant compared with previous years, particularly given the country’s recent “unjust war conditions.”

He said the volume of foreign investment applications remained high, adding that an improved investment climate would pave the way for larger projects and more substantial capital inflows.

“We have seen significant increases in some areas, and in terms of attracting capital, the amount of registered investment has been almost equal to that of last year,” Heidari said.

He added that approximately $17 billion in foreign investment licenses were registered last year, describing the figure as a record for the sector.

Heidari also pointed to progress in foreign financing and project finance, saying that Iran had secured substantial financing commitments from some countries and that larger-scale projects were now being pursued.

The latest figures indicate continued activity in Iran’s foreign investment pipeline, with authorities seeking to expand capital inflows and external financing while improving the conditions for international investment.
