Iran’s Fars Province Reports More Than $2 Million in Foreign Investment in First Five Months

SHIRAZ, Iran — Iran’s Fars province attracted and registered more than $2 million in foreign investment during the first five months of the current Iranian year (starting March 20, 2026), the provincial director-general for economic and financial affairs said, as the region seeks to expand investment despite sanctions and broader economic constraints.

Saeed Taghizadeh said the volume of approved foreign investment in Fars since March 20, 2026, had exceeded $250 million, representing a 5.5% increase compared with the preceding period.

Speaking at a meeting of the province’s non-oil export development working group, held ahead of the Shiraz Expo 2026 trade and investment exhibition, Taghizadeh said attracting foreign capital had become a more active priority for the province.

He said the investment process begins with identifying and presenting viable investment opportunities and continues through the formal registration of capital. Some of the investment secured in recent years, he added, was facilitated by groundwork and investor outreach conducted during last year’s exhibition.

Investment and export exhibitions can help accelerate capital inflows by showcasing regional economic potential, streamlining investment procedures and connecting investors with relevant government institutions, Taghizadeh said.

A key mandate of the Shiraz Expo investment committee is to identify and promote projects based on Fars province’s comparative and economic advantages, he added.

So far, 23 investment opportunities across seven economic sectors have been identified, with projects spanning industry and mining, agriculture, water, electricity and energy, healthcare, tourism, construction and urban development. Their combined estimated value exceeds €9 billion, according to Taghizadeh.

Details of the projects, together with available investment incentives and legal protections, are being compiled in Persian, English and Arabic and will be distributed to potential investors through information packages and dedicated investment booklets.

The province also plans to establish an investment services desk at Shiraz Expo 2026, where prospective investors will have access to technical and specialist advice, as well as information on government support, guarantees, incentives and statutory exemptions.

The initiative is part of Fars province’s broader effort to convert its economic and sectoral advantages into investable projects and attract foreign capital into productive activities.
