Economy and Finance Ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia Meet on the Sidelines of Al-Ula Summit

Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the Second Emerging Economies Summit in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.

According to SHADA, during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen and develop bilateral economic and financial cooperation between the two countries.

Madanizadeh, referring to existing capacities, emphasized the importance of expanding economic, financial, and operational cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Financial and administrative issues concerning Iranian pilgrims were also discussed and reviewed, with both sides stressing the need for coordination and facilitation of related processes.

The process of preparing and finalizing a memorandum of understanding to avoid double taxation between the two countries was reviewed, with emphasis on continuing consultations to finalize the agreement.

Customs-related issues and ways to enhance cooperation in this area were also among the topics discussed.

The Second Al-Ula Emerging Economies Summit is being held with the participation of finance ministers, central bank governors, and senior economic officials from various countries, hosted by the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The summit serves as a platform for exchanging views on common challenges and opportunities for emerging economies and for strengthening regional and international cooperation in economic policies.

Seyed Ali Madanizadeh also held meetings with senior economic officials from attending countries to discuss issues of mutual interest on the sidelines of the summit.
